# Vizio Remote Setup: Pair and Program Your Vizio Remote

Pair a SmartCast Bluetooth remote, program a universal remote, or replace batteries.

## Pair a SmartCast Bluetooth remote

    Insert two fresh AA batteries into the remote.

    Use the power button on the TV itself.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter pairing mode">
    Hold the **Bluetooth** or **Setup** button for 3-5 seconds until the LED blinks rapidly.

    The TV auto-detects the remote and shows a confirmation.

## Program a universal remote

Common Vizio codes: `0178`, `0030`, `0056`, `0205`, `11756` (5-digit).

    Hold the **TV** or **Setup** button on your universal remote until the light blinks.

    Type a 4 or 5-digit Vizio code using the number pad.

## Replace batteries

Most Vizio remotes take two AA batteries. Match the `+` and `-` terminals. Re-pair Bluetooth remotes if pairing is lost.
