# How to Sideload APK Files on Vizio Smart TV

> Install third-party APK apps on your Vizio Smart TV — sideload apps not available in the SmartCast App Store safely and easily.

Install apps that are not in the SmartCast App Store on your Vizio TV.

  Vizio SmartCast is a closed platform and does not officially support APK sideloading. Use an external streaming device (Fire Stick, Chromecast, Android TV box) for full APK support.

## Recommended: use a Fire Stick or Android TV

The easiest way to run APK apps on your Vizio is to plug in an Android-based streaming device.

    Plug the device into any HDMI port on your Vizio TV.

    On the device: **Settings > My Fire TV > Developer Options > Apps from Unknown Sources > On**.

    Install **Downloader** by AFTVnews from the Amazon App Store.

    Open Downloader and enter the direct APK URL, then install.

## Cast APK apps from your phone

Install the APK on your Android phone and cast to your Vizio TV.
